Inclusive celebration to welcome Vancouver residents

The Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) has planned a special fundraiser for the city, and as inclusivity will be the order of the day, everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Both introverts and those who love a crowd can enjoy the Unicorn Ball, and while they do, they will be helping to support Pride events and other local initiatives for small groups that otherwise may not be able to offer programming to the LGBTQ community. There will be a variety of activities, adult colouring stations and lots more to see and do, and most of the venue for the celebration is accessible to those who need to use a mobility device.

In an effort to make the festivities an event everyone can enjoy, it will open with a special “introvert hour”. During this time, the attendees can enjoy lower music volumes and there won’t be any lines. The space will be quieter than during the main event, and those who attend this part of the evening can choose to stay for the entire function should they wish to do so.

The VPS noted that, during the soiree, it will be conducting an accessibility audit of the site. Stationery printers can prepare specially designed record sheets and other paperwork that can be helpful in this type of situation.

The Unicorn Ball will be welcoming one and all on March 14. It will be held in the Imperial, and more details are available in its online listing.
