Annual swimming competition to return near Vancouver

The Vancouver Open Water Swim Association (VOAWSA) will be hosting the yearly Canada Day Challenge close to the city this coming July.

VOAWSA regularly hosts swim practice meetups and races throughout the warm seasons for swimmers of all levels of experience from around the Vancouver area. The organization’s three summertime races include the Bay Challenge, the Kits Challenge and the Canada Day Challenge.

The Canada Day Challenge presents Vancouver locals with the opportunity to compete in a yearly race outdoors. Depending on each athlete's skill sets, divisions are available for distances including a 4 km, 2 km and 1 km race. To share essential event details and rules with participants, the hosts of similar racing competitions often hand out Copies of printouts created through brochure printing services.

To register as a swimmer for the Canada Day Challenge, anyone who wants to join can purchase a $60 ticket online with Eventbrite. Participants who are 60 years of age or older, or youths 19 years old or younger, can sign up for the race at a discounted rate of $40 per person with a promotional code. The ticket proceeds will help support the Vancouver Lifeguard Association and BC Special Olympics.

The Canada Day Challenge will be held in Port Moody at Sasamat Lake from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, July 1st.
