Zero-emission go-karts to take to the streets

An event will soon take place in New Westminster that will put a whole new face on go-kart racing.

The zero-emission vehicles will take to a uniquely designed route that includes sharp corners, a drop in elevation and other elements to challenge the drivers. It is the first of a series of races known as G-Zero.

The vehicles will be very different from the traditional, combustion engine style of karts, and according to the race’s organizers, they will be far quieter and less intrusive to the downtown area in which the event will be held. A variety of ad specialties can be designed and then produced to help promote this particular route and the new style of racing.

To help promote the race and this new form of go-karting, the organizers brought one of the vehicles to the city for officials to try out. Mayor Jonathan Cote commented that it is exciting for the community to be able to host the first event in the G-Zero series, and he is pleased that it will also showcase its downtown core. This can generate interest for both tourists and those who may be looking for a venue that would be well suited to their particular plans

The G-Zero championship races will take place on June 11th and 12th. Further details can be found on the organizers’ website.
