The play will feature a combination of the classic Hans Christian Anderson tale, the famous animated adaptation, and modern popular culture. All of this content is filtered through the tradition of British pantomime or “panto”, which is known for featuring colourful costumes, extended audience participation and humorous asides.
This production of The Little Mermaid will run for four shows across three days. This schedule includes a sensory-friendly “relaxed” performance, aimed at neurodivergent audience members, with ASL interpreters on the side of the stage. This version of The Little Mermaid will include local talent in front of and behind the curtain, with a script by Crystal Weltzin and Argel Monte de Ramos.
Each show will include an intermission, with refreshments available for pre-order. Community and children’s theatre often uses colourful flyer printing and local media to help reach a family audience. Advertising for The Little Mermaid emphasizes familiar characters and themes:
