The Vagabond Players will be kicking off a new season in New Westminster this fall with their production of the lighthearted stage comedy “Things My Mother Taught Me.”
The stage play by Katherine DiSavino tells the story of a young couple who move across the country to start a new life, only to find themselves unable to avoid their two pairs of parents as they share their “wisdom” about cohabiting. Local and community theatre offers an intimate experience, often using poster printing and social media for grassroots marketing.
The Vagabond Players production will be directed by Denise Brookson with Karen Ostroff as stage manager. The cast will feature local actors including Mandie Vredegoor as Olivia and Gabriel Negron as Gabe. The show will launch in previews for two nights before the finished version takes the stage across three weeks.
Things My Mother Taught Me will look to kick off a season focused on comedy. Future Vagabond Players productions will include Norm Foster’s play A Snow White Christmas, the musical farce Clue, and the comedic drama Time Piece. The group boasts of being the oldest community theatre in British Columbia, with their own playhouse as a venue.
The Vagabond Players production of Things My Mother Taught Me will take place at the Bernie Legge Theatre in New Westminster from September 24 to October 11.
