The City of New Westminster will hold its Love New West event this February, highlighting the work of local organizations in its Community Grants Celebration.
The meeting will showcase more than 60 organizations that have been funded through the city’s Community Grants Program. This event will include a community panel and keynote speech on the role of non-profit groups in New Westminster. The keynote speaker will be Vantage Point CEO Zahra Esmail, who is also an active volunteer and Chair of the province’s Poverty Reduction Advisory Community.
The event will also include a Non-Profit Expo, where visitors can talk directly with representatives of local non-governmental organizations. This expo will include stories from volunteers, visual exhibits and interactive activities. Attendees can earn a “goodie bag” and entry into a prize draw through a scavenger hunt, answering questions from ten featured non-profits.
The Community Grants program funds organizations linked to three portfolios: Living, Involvement and Growth, all three of which will be represented at the Love New West event. Events like this often provide opportunities for jobs or volunteer positions, with visitors engaging in resume and business card printing in preparation.
The Love New West event will take place at the Anvil Centre on February 7. More details, including the participants and moderator of the Community Partner Panel, will be announced in the lead-up to the occasion.
