Vancouver Folk Festival to return to Jericho Beach

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival will return for its 42nd annual edition this July, featuring a three-day display of folk music from around the world.

Typically attracting over 40,000 people, the festival will be headlined by well-known artists like the platinum-selling Sam Roberts Band, New Orleans institution Revival Brass Band, and Canadian country star Corb Lund. It will once again be held in its traditional spot at Jericho Beach Park.

The festival was founded in 1978, and moved to Jericho the following year. It has become a major destination on the music festival circuit as well as a favourite of local music-lovers from Vancouver, and nearby areas like Surrey and New Westminster. These days, the event also benefits from a rising interest in music festivals as a way to see a variety of music and avoid high ticket prices for solo concerts. These festivals often feature major acts and use poster printing, flyer printing and social media to advertise.

The 2019 edition of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival will take place from July 19 to 21. This year’s line-up includes international guests like Niger-based band Tai National and Cuba’s Pablo Menendez and his band Mezcla, as well as colourful group names like Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers and Mike Farris & The Fortunate Few. Tickets are available for individual days as well as the whole weekend.
