Travel agents to convene in Vancouver areaa

Canadian travel agents who specialize in welcoming travellers from the Asia-Pacific region to Canada will meet in the Vancouver area this December to network and exchange knowledge.

The event is the annual “winter function” of CITAP, the Canadian Inbound Tourism Association – Asia Pacific. There will be a morning of educational seminars, followed by an afternoon “winter marketplace” for travel agents to meet with vendors and suppliers. Last year’s conference featured over 150 exhibitors from across Canada, including many who are unavailable at other trade shows. This will be followed by a dinner and reception, allowing for more networking and reconnecting.

CITAP works to improve Asian-based travel to Canada, both through connecting people in the industry and advocating for policy changes. Its mission statement reads:

“If it helps to improve the breadth and width of Canadian tour and travel operations, regardless of the area or segment it represents, a more robust and varied tour and travel economy in Canada can only bolster prospects for Asian Inbound business in the long run.”

CITAP holds events throughout the year, including golf tournaments and annual general meetings. Networking through organizations like this can be crucial for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and CITAP recommends bringing plenty of Business Cards.

The 2019 edition of CITAP’s Winter Function will take place on December 3 at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond BC. Travel experts from Richmond and nearby cities like Vancouver and New Westminster will be welcoming peers from across the country.
