The Santa Claus Parade is taking place in New Westminster early next month. This year’s event, which will see floats travel down Columbia Street, is dedicated to first responders in the city.
In addition to the parade, there will be several activities on offer at various venues the downtown business district, including the Fraser River Discovery Centre and the River Market.
The River Market will be holding a special holiday market where people can pick up some Christmas gifts for their loved ones. There will also be the opportunity for photos with Santa Claus and an interactive Christmas craft workshop from 12:00-3:00pm.
At the Fraser River Discovery Centre, children between the ages of four and 12 can take part in Merry Fishmas. They will make salmon spawn decorations, pinecone ornaments, and cranberry strings.
The organizers are still looking for volunteers to make sure everything runs smoothly on the day. Those attending will also be able to park their cars for free at the Front Street Parkade.
The parade is set to feature many floats and Santa Claus will be the guest of honor. Often those who are designing float decorations in New Westminster contact local printing companies for help. They might add large Banners to the float to enhance the theme or to recognize sponsors.
The Santa Claus Parade is being held on December 7, beginning at 11:00am. For more information, or to volunteer, get in contact with the Moody Park Arena on 604-525-5301.
