The Vancouver Retro Gaming Expo is taking place in New Westminster next month.
The expo is a showcase of some of the most popular old video games and systems, and it introduces them to a new generation. There will be plenty of opportunities to play some retro games free of charge throughout the day.
Terry Diebold, with a “Nintendo PlayStation” prototype, will be telling its story and hosting a question and answer session. Other special guests will be collectors John ‘The Immortal’ Hancock, Radical Reggie and Josh Hamblin.
There will be discussion panels, tournaments for games such as Tetris, Mario Cart 64 and Sonic 2, and a vendor’s room featuring Artists’ Alley. Vendors will likely be selling game manuals, vintage games, collectibles, Posters and even game systems. Other events will include the 8 Bits of Destiny art show and auction, the Improve Antiques Road Show with The Fictionals and a Fandom Feud game show.
Musical entertainment will be provided by groups such as Bryface, Opus Arise and The Runaway Four.
Organizers may invest in banner printing services from a New Westminster Print shop to highlight specific areas.
The Vancouver Retro Gaming Expo (VRGE) will be held at the Anvil Centre on June 23 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Tickets are $25 each. For more information, visit the official event website.
