Purpose Society looking for volunteers for street fair

The Lower Mainland Purpose Society is currently looking for volunteers who are willing to help organize a street fair this June to celebrate the group’s 30th anniversary.

The Purpose Society provides counselling and skill development programs to children, youth and families.

All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age or older. Duties will involve such tasks as putting up and taking down displays, decorating the area, helping at various food and activity stations, helping the public, and keeping the area clean.

The street fair will feature food vendors, family-friendly games, a variety of entertainment and various activity stations. While admission is free, all of the group’s funds come from local organizations and individuals so events like this are important.

It is very likely that the organizers of the fair will be advertising all over the New Westminster area for volunteers. This might involve the designing and printing of Flyers with the help of a local printing company. The Flyers can then be distributed through the mail to local schools and colleges or even handed out on the street. A flyer is a very effective way of informing a large group of people about upcoming events in the community.

The Purpose Society Street Fair will take place at Hyack Square on June 8 from 11:00am - 4:00pm; volunteers will be expected to be available from 10:00am - 4:00pm. Those who are looking for more information can contact Dawn Embree at 604-526-2522.
