North American Outgames coming to Vancouver

Poster and banner printing firms in New Westminster, B.C., will be on hand to produce materials for the North American Outgames, as the event will be coming to nearby Vancouver only in July of this year. The Outgames are have been held every year since 2006, making it a relatively new event in the sports world. The games got some help in funding last week when both the city of Vancouver and the park board agreed to donate $100,000 to the July event. The money for this grant is provided by one of the Vancouver Sport Hosting Grants, and this same grant has in the past contributed to payments for a host of events. Some of the past event-recipients have been KitsFest, World Police and Fire Games, and the Vancouver International Soccer Fest. The way that grants of this kind are determined is founded on whether the event applying can bring community-development, health, social, and economic benefits to the city.

The North American Outgames features 18 games in total that have all been approved by the Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association of North America. This Association is based in the city of Montreal, which was also the scene of the first Outgames back in 2006.

Expectations are that about 4000 gay or lesbian athletes will be competing at the 2011 North American Outgames. In addition to those numbers, there will also be support staff and the friends and family of the gay and lesbian athletes.

Poster printing firms in New Westminster, B.C., still have a few months to assist in advertising this event in the community.
