This summer, Car Free Day New West will be coming to New Westminster for eight hours of free festivities.
TransLink will be presenting the event, which is organized by the City of New Westminster and the Downtown New West BIA. TransLink has arranged car-free festival days to take place in Metro Vancouver to encourage locals to switch from personal vehicles to more environmentally sustainable travel methods. The campaign urges residents to instead take public transport or choose walking and cycling as an effective way to decrease greenhouse gas.
The yearly Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest will be integrated into Car Free Day New West as a single larger event that will be held on Columbia Street. Residents of New Westminster are welcome to travel to this vehicle-free event on foot, bike or by taking public transit. The festival will be a pedestrian-focused event with perks such as interactive games, food trucks, vendors and exhibitors.
When setting up exhibits or sale booths at festivals, vendors and exhibitors regularly invest in local banner printing to create eye-catching decorations that showcase their booths effectively. This family-friendly local event is open to people of all ages, with no admission fee required.
The first Car Free Day New West festival is set to begin at 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 6 and finish by 8:00 pm.
