A celebration has been planned for New Westminster to recognize the special role grandparents play in the lives of their grandkids, and to raise awareness of the challenges faced by older adults who are raising their children’s children.
New Westminster’s River Market and the Quay will be the site of a variety of activities for grandparents to enjoy with all the members of their families. There will be live music and other entertainment, an audition, information tents, games and fun for the kids, and much more. There will also be an awareness walk, with funds raised going towards helping provide support for diverse families throughout the area.
The day is being organized by the Parent Support Services Society of BC.
There is no charge to attend the event, but a donation of $35 is required to participate in the walk. All donations will be gratefully accepted. The first 100 grandparents to come out to the celebration will receive a free gift.
