New Westminster’s Royal City Musical Theatre will be back on stage this spring with its production of the classic musical Crazy for You.
The play is a light-hearted story about a group of people coming together to save a Las Vegas theatre. The musical, which first premiered to critical acclaim on Broadway in 1992, incorporates songs from legendary songwriting duo George and Ira Gershwin. The New Westminster production stars the real-life husband and wife duo of Todd Talbot as soft-hearted banker Bobby Child and Rebecca Talbot as the girl he falls for, Polly Baker. The show also features Kirk Smith as Zangler, and over 20 other local actors making up a broad ensemble.
This production of Crazy for You will be directed and choreographed by Valerie Easton with musical director James Bryson, who have both worked on previous shows for Royal City Musical Theatre. The company is marking its 31st year operating, and typically produces one Broadway-style musical a year. Local productions such as this draw on area talent and often use methods such as poster printing and social media to help draw an audience.
The Royal City Music Theatre production of Crazy for You will be staged at the Massey Theatre in New Westminster. The show will debut on April 27 and run for 14 performances, concluding on May 14.
