New Westminster re-launches campaign highlighting local businesses

The city of New Westminster has brought back the #ReDiscoverNewWest campaign to help call attention to local small businesses as British Columbia re-opens.

The first campaign ran over six weeks starting in February, and it focused on food and beverage businesses. The new campaign has a broader focus and multiple phases. Residents can enter a draw to win $1,000 in gift cards for New West stores and restaurants, and they can also win weekly prizes by sharing an image about supporting local businesses through social media platforms.

A printed entry form has also been released through the New West Record. The campaign has an associated website that encourages visitors to eat local:

“Whether you cross off the shopping list, enjoy some takeout, or pick up a perfect gift for that special someone, think about how you can support New West businesses while creating memories and unique experiences of your own.”

The Rediscover New West website also provides a listing for local businesses ranging from Taverna Greka restaurant to the Indigenous wellness brand Sisters Sage. The initiative is a joint project between local organizations like the Arts Council of New West, Downtown New West BIA and Tourism New West. Programs like this use websites, as well as Print tools like poster printing, to communicate with the general public.

Rediscover New West launched at the start of June, and the prize drawing will be open until the end of the month.
