New Westminster offers a different kind of flea market

The River Market in New Westminster is holding the Curious Flea for two days this February. Organizers are calling it a "social flea market."

The Curious Flea is expected to be selling antiques, upcycled furniture, collectibles and original creations made from recycled materials. Guests are welcome to bring along the strangest item they own for the Curious Hall of Fame; the winner will get a prize.

All of the vendors are unique in one way or the other and were chosen by onsite expert Jenny Cashin. Guests should be able to find an original gift or that piece they have been looking for to complete a collection. It may also inspire members of the public to find a new use for an old item that is lying around the house.

The River Market also offers several choices of food for those attending the flea market.

Many of the vendors, who will probably come from all over the New Westminster area, may choose to contact local Print companies to provide them with business card printing and other printing services. The cards will allow the people who stop by their table to keep in touch and to possibly shop from them again.

The Curious Flea is taking place at the River Market from February 22 to 23. Admission is free. For more information, call 604-520-3881.
