Print companies in communities can go a long way in helping to support charitable events in communities, especially when volunteers like the New Westminster firefighters get involved in supporting local charitable causes that specialize in treating children.
The New Westminster, BC fire department’s ‘2012 Burn’ camp has been held over the past week and allowed young people, who are also burn survivors, to participate in a week-long camp and enjoy group activities. Some of the events included swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, and kayaking, as well as dinners and daily field trips. In addition, the survivors received vital support from counselors and other burn survivors.
Burn survivors at the Burn 2012 camp had been injured in numerous ways, included burnt by scalds, match burns, and house fire injuries. 50 volunteer counselors and doctors were on site for Burn Canada survivors to help treat physical and psychological injuries resulting from fires.
In addition to running Burn 2012, the New Westminster’s Fire Fighters held a pancake lunch last Sunday, July 15, in order to donate to the cause. The important charity event was able to raise $2,500 in support of Burn 2012.
Being a volunteer to help support burn survivors is one crucial way of supporting the community through a charitable cause. Advertising is a crucial way to create awareness about fire safety and burn prevention and also to promote charity events in the community to ensure their success.
Burn 2012 is funded by the B.C Professional Fire Fighter’s Burn Fund and primarily treats burn-afflicted children.
