New Westminster event to provide childrens entertainment

The Queensborough Special Programs Committee will be holding the Queensborough Children’s Festival this June, aiming to provide a wide variety of family-friendly fun in New Westminster.

The outdoor event will combine live entertainment with hands-on activities aimed at a young audience. On stage will be Dance with Astou, music by the Queensborough Middle School Band and Music with Marnie, and live magic by Merlin the Magician and Nikita Graham. Participatory activities will be arranged by the Vancouver Circus School, the Fraser River Discovery Centre Foolish Operations Dance Workshop, and the Artist in the Boro program. Local author Mavis Lui will be reading from her book “Meet Frank”, and young visitors can also meet local sanctuary birds and have their face painted.

There will also be food provided by local organisations such as a barbecue hosted by the Knights of Columbus and the Queensborough Community Centre Cafe. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket for eating and relaxing outdoors, as well as to walk or take public transit due to limited parking spaces. The festival is free for all visitors. Outdoor events such as this, often promoted through flyer printing and local media advertising, are a staple of summertime fun, especially for families.

The 2024 Queensborough Children’s Festival will take place on the morning of June 15 at the Queensborough Community Centre in New Westminster.
