The Giving Gala will take the form of a semi-formal ball. A ticket will include appetizers and desserts to go along with dancing and music throughout the night. There will be inspiring speakers presentations on the Ubuntu Hope organization’s new and ongoing projects. The Gala will also include an African market with goods inspired by Ubuntu’s work in Ghana and Kenya and a silent auction, with all funds raised further going towards Ubuntu Hope’s efforts.
Organizers connect the event to Ubuntu’s overall mission:
“This prestigious affair is a celebration of unity, love, and hope, embodying the spirit of Ubuntu – the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity.”
The Ubuntu Hope group provides services such as food programs, clean water, and medical care in Africa, as well as the Dominican Republic. The group also contributes locally to the New Westminster area through providing scholarships to Douglas College Nursing students and to graduates of New Westminster Secondary School’s inclusive education program. Galas such as this are a popular way to support charitable non-profit organizations, often using poster printing and social media to attract donors and provide information on their work.
The 2023 Ubuntu Hope Giving Gala will take place on October 14 at the Grand Commons of New Westminster Secondary School.
