New West fundraiser to benefit autistic children

The Autism Family Friends organization in New Westminster will be celebrating its first anniversary with a fundraising event aimed at children with autism and their families.

The day will feature carnival games and a sensory-friendly children’s play space provided by The Cove. Donors can get tickets to raffle prizes or bid on items from a silent auction. There will also be complimentary snacks and refreshments to enjoy while meeting and connecting with other people.

The 1st Anniversary Fundraiser will also include a meet-and-greet area with local businesses offering inclusive products and services to support children with autism. Businesses at events like this often use methods like Business Cards and promotional items to help make connections. Sponsors often also provide auction or raffle items, with the AFF fundraiser supported by local businesses and sports teams like the BC Lions and Vancouver Canadians.

All money raised will go towards the AFF’s daily operations running programs and creating supplies for families dealing with autistic needs. The group’s mission statement expresses an aim to provide a supportive community for children with autism at all levels:

“Our mission is to create a welcoming space for children with autism to play, learn, and grow, while connecting families on the ASD journey. We foster a supportive community that understands, shares, and encourages one another.”

The 1st Anniversary Fundraiser for Autism Family Friends will take place at The Cove Indoor Play in New Westminster on Sunday, September 21.
