A New Westminster fair dedicated to local artists and artisans has re-opened as an online marketplace to adapt to changing times.
New West Craft is typically a bimonthly market that lets local, independent “makers”, ranging from seamstresses to smiths, sell and interact with customers directly.
Markets like these are popular among customers looking to support local businesses and pick up unique gifts or items for themselves, and vendors can provide Business Cards or Promotional Products to make a lasting connection along with the sale. The physical market is not currently running due to provincial restrictions, but the virtual event hopes to make the same type of connections.
The online fair has featured more than 30 local artisans, such as ceramics sculptor Pineapple Cat Studio, Finding Solace Art, and Slothboss Clothing. The market is opened for a limited amount of time, like the physical event, and advertises different businesses and products during the period through its social media feeds. The event is a product of the New West Arts Council, which promotes numerous weekly arts events and is currently venturing into the online space.
The first New West Craft Virtual Market took place on April 4, and the event is set to continue on the first and third Saturdays every month, which is the same schedule as the in-person markets would normally be held at.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
