Individuals and families from across Newmarket are invited to come out to an event that its organizers hope will showcase the nature all around them.
Nature Day at Cawthra Mulock Nature Reserve will give those who participate an opportunity to take part in a day of activities that centre on a natural theme. There will be pollinator monitoring in the native plant garden where the public will learn how to recognize, record, and report the pollinators they see and also how to plant gardens of their own. After that, there will be a free lunch, with crafts, games and a chance to meet friends, old and new. This will be followed by a guided hike and a count of salamanders, reptiles and amphibians.
The day, which has been funded by the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and the Ontario Trillium Foundation, is open to anyone of any age. It will be held regardless of the weather, and people are reminded to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately. They should also bring along a water bottle and hat. Flyers can be posted throughout the community help make the public aware of upcoming special events such as this.
