One of music’s biggest cult icons, Australian singer and rock musician Nick Cave, will visit New Westminster this October. The event will feature both performances and conversation.
Cave is best known for his ashy voice and enigmatic stage presence. He typically performs as part of the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, but has also partnered with pop acts like Kylie Minogue. Cave’s career stretches back to the 1970s, when he was part of Melbourne-based punk band The Birthday Party. Since then, he has released over a dozen studio albums, including beloved songs like “The Mercy Seat” and “Where the Wild Roses Grow.” He has also written two novels and a pair of screenplays, and appeared in films as both an actor and a documentary subject.
The New West event will be part of a worldwide “conversations” tour that aims to provide fans with an intimate experience. The events allow audience members to ask Cave questions and request songs. He has described the format as “an experiment in connection”, and an exercise improvisation. New Westminster is one of only three Canadian stops on the tour, which started off in Australia. Musical events of all sizes often use poster printing and flyer printing to advertise -- particularly when the name on the poster speaks for itself.
Conversations with Nick Cave will take place at Massey Theatre on October 10.
