Literary festival makes a return to New West

The LitFest New West is taking place in New Westminster for two days this April. It is a presentation of the Arts Council of New Westminster.

The event is set to open with a reception that will be held at the New Westminster Public Library. Guests will take in refreshments while enjoying a comedy retrospective by Bob Robertson and Linda Cullen.

The festival will feature workshops in topics like comedy, publishing, and research. In addition, there will be a book marketplace, a showcase, and book signings by local authors. Further, an open mic event will take place after the book signing activity. The showcase is expected to present performances in music, poetry, and spoken word. Gary Geddes will give the keynote speech during this event; he is a poet and writer who received the 2008 Lieutenant Governor's Award.

It's likely that those who plan to participate in the marketplace will be contacting their favorite New Westminster Stationery printers to provide them with items such as Booklets or Brochures to hand out to interested guests.

LitFest New West events will be held at the New Westminster Public Library and Douglas College from April 25th to 26th. Admission is free but donations to the Arts Council would be appreciated. The reception will take place on April 25th, beginning at 6:30pm. The showcase is taking place on April 26th from 7:00pm - 10:00pm. For more information about the festival, call 604-527-3244.
