History buffs have something new to look forward to, as the New Westminster Museum and Archives is in the process of moving nearly 36,000 artifacts from their current home at Irving House to the brand new Anvil House, downtown.
The items that are part of the relocation include pieces from several thousand years ago belonging to the First Peoples of Canada, to more modern items from the 19th and 20th centuries. All artifacts have been meticulously cataloged and newly researched in order to better inform the public as to their significance. In addition, a design house from Vancouver has been hired to revamp many of the museum’s displays.
Due to their age, many pieces are quite fragile and must be handled with exceptional care. Therefore, moving the artifacts is an extensive process and sometimes requires up to three days just to transport a single piece, although most are less complicated.
In order to inform the public about the move, the museum may have used the services of a Print company for the purposes of banner printing.
The Anvil Centre is a new facility created to host conferences, as well as accommodate arts and cultural events in New Westminster. Also located in the building will be the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the Community Art Gallery, and the New Westminster New Media Gallery. The grand opening takes place on September 14th.Get a Free Quote for Print
