Expanding Newmarket Hall of Fame

The Sports Hall of Fame in Newmarket is about to get a little bit bigger, which may eventually prompt an advertising campaign to attract more visitors to its doors. Three inductees, which fall under the builders category, have been admitted, hoping to attract attention from local residents and visitors.

The Induction ceremonies will be held on November 18 at the Magna Centre. Such ceremonies often require printed promotion, and promoting the ceremonies through poster printing of the induction throughout the community and brochure printings at the Newmarket Sports Hall of fame itself could help ensure a successful turnout. Printers can also become involved in preparing some of the printed paraphernalia displayed within the exhibits at the Hall itself.

Don McKnight, coach, umpire, and executive member of the Newmarket Baseball Association for more than 50 years, is the most recent addition, inducted for his contribution to his league, the community, and the sport. McKnight also served as past president of Baseball Ontario.

The late Keith Davis has also been inducted into the Newmarket Sports Hall in celebration of his efforts and hard work in supporting the tennis community in Newmarket.

The final inductee will be Newmarket Dixon’s women’s softball team - a deserving inductee who dominated the sport of softball in Ontario, winning three provincial softball championships in four seasons, beginning in 1953.

Members of the community who wish to nominate an athlete, builder, or team for induction can fill out a form and include printed newspaper clippings, magazine articles,or letters from sports bodies to support their nomination.
