‘Nordic Spirit 2013: To Canada with Hope’ will take place in Burnaby in just a couple of weeks’ time. A two-day celebration of Nordic culture and of immigrants who made new lives for themselves in North America, it will feature photography exhibits, speakers, workshops, children's activities and heritage games.
The first day reception will feature speakers Sheila Wright and Christine Reid, the latter of whom will be talking about Viking age archaeology. The next day, there will be several talks and workshops on such topics as Norse mythology, Nordic design, and Norse ship building. It sounds like an excellent way to celebrate Nordic culture and, for those who know nothing about, it to learn about the history of this culture in Canada.
The festival will likely attract interested people from all over the region, including nearby New Westminster. Organizers will no doubt be working with their local Print companies to design and Print a product to advertise the event, such as a flyer. Flyers are inexpensive to produce and can be distributed to a large number of people very quickly, making them a highly effective marketing method.
Nordic Spirit 2013 will take place at the Scandinavian Community Centre in Burnaby from April 13 - 14 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Admission is free although some workshops have a fee. The opening day reception will take place on April 13 at 11:00 am. For more information on both these events, such as workshop fees, contact Carolyn Thauberger at 778-329-6964.
