Canadian comedy veteran to visit New West

Popular Canadian stand-up comedian Jon Dore will appear in New Westminster this August, as in-person stand-up shows return to Canada.

Dore will be performing six shows over the course of a weekend, performing his typically sardonic and off-kilter stand-up jokes. There will also be a selection of featured acts yet to be announced.

The comedian has recorded stand-up specials for The Comedy Network, Comedy Central and Showtime, and he has also hosted shows like Canadian Idol and The Stand-Up Show. Dore is perhaps best known for making guest appearances on Conan, which included appearing on the show’s TBS debut and dressing in a large centaur costume.

Dore’s performance in New Westminster is slated to be one of his first stand-up appearances in Canada since the coronavirus pandemic, following a headlining role at Edmonton’s Grindstone Comedy Festival in July. The show will be at half capacity but otherwise a standard club comedy performance. National names and local up-and-comers alike are now returning to the stage, with comedy events often promoted through time-tested tools like flyer printing and newer methods like podcasts.

Jon Dore will perform at Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy in New Westminster from August 19 to 22. The event is part of the venue’s “Special Presentation” series featuring internationally known comics, meaning that normal passes and coupons do not apply.
