Planes to take to skies of Delta

This July will be a special edition of the Boundary Bay Airshow, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Air Force.

The event is designed as a family-friendly experience where visitors can see small aircrafts flown by organizations and private pilots doing stunts and more. Confirmed exhibitors include the Northern Stars Aeroteam, aerial pair Undaunted, aerobatic artist and pioneer Vicky Benzing, and four-seater “station wagon” pilot Ross Granley. Visitors can take a look at rare and historic planes up close and personal on the ground, with exhibitions from the Erickson Aircraft Collection and more. There will also be a Family Zone with activities such as face-painting and minigolf, and local food trucks and restaurants offering refreshments.

The Airshow is supported by a number of volunteers, ranging from aircraft security to take-down crew. Community events like this also draw on grassroots support from local businesses, such as sponsors or Print shops for promotional material. The event boasts of being one of the few remaining airshows in North America that is free to attendees. The Airshow is also supported by the City of Delta. Visitors may even be able to take a flight around Boundary Bay in a helicopter or fixed-wing propeller plane.

The 2024 Boundary Bay Airshow will take place on July 13 at Boundary Bay Airport in Delta.
