Garlic growing to be focus of Delta class

Garlic has long been a popular ingredient in many dishes, and it’s often surprisingly easy to grow at home. Delta residents who would like to try their hand at growing this herb are invited to sign up for a fall workshop that will help them get started.

The North Delta Recreation Centre will be the location for a class that will teach the basics of growing garlic. As good soil is one of the keys to successful gardening, the session will start from the ground up, and attendees will be able to ask any questions they may have.

The group will explore how they can prepare their beds for planting garlic, and what time of year this crop should be planted. They will discuss the types of bulb, and after that, they will learn how to properly store it for future use.

Recipes and samples are also included in the agenda for the morning, and if the organizers of this sort of function offer printed recipe cards, which can be ordered form a printing services company, participants will be able to prepare them at home in their own kitchen.

This workshop, which can be an informative way to wrap up another growing season, will be taking place on October 4th. Its scheduled to begin at 10am, and it will continue until 11:30am.
