Growing potatoes can be a lot of fun, and Delta residents who would like to learn more about the art and science of growing spuds for themselves are invited to take a seat at an upcoming local workshop.
The West End Food Network has reserved the Barclay Room at the West End Community Centre for its Growing Plenty of Potatoes hands-on class. The session will be filled with information and tips, and everyone who attends will go home with a piece of “seed” potato so they can get started right away.
The class will introduce a variety of techniques for growing this popular food crop, including ones that use containers or grow Bags and are suitable for a balcony. Cultivar choice, as well as feeding, watering and storing the harvest, will all be discussed, and the attendees can wrap up the experience with a stop at the venue’s seed library. The activity is scheduled to run for one hour.
Learning materials to distribute to attendees of classes such as this one can be sourced from local providers of printing services.
The West End Food Network will be offering its Growing Plenty of Potatoes class on Tuesday, June 14th. It will start at 6:30 pm, and anyone who has questions or concerns is asked to contact the organizers via phone.
