An activity that will show environmental stewardship can also be a lot of fun will soon be doing a good turn for the Delta Bog Delta Nature Reserve, and as many hands make light work, volunteers are being sought.
The Burns Bog Conservation Society is seeking assistance with a project that will remove invasive introduced species from the largest salmon stream in Delta. There is no charge to get involved, and those who register for the morning will learn how to identify the various plant species they find so that they will know which ones can stay and which ones need to be dug up and removed.
The facilitators will be distributing sturdy work gloves, shovels and any other equipment needed to the group, and as the activity will be held outdoors, everyone is reminded to come dressed for the task at hand.
For many environmental organizations like this, raising awareness is very important. The creation of an eye-catching Logo Design can be helpful in generating awareness and stirring up public interest in its activities.
The Invasive Species Removal with the Surrey Environmental Extravaganza event will take place on May 21st. Everyone who would like to get involved is asked to meet up in the parking area located at 10388 Nordel Court at 10:00 am. The event will wrap up at 12:30 pm.
