A Delta project is seeking helping hands to remove invasive species from local green spaces.
Pebble Hill Park will be the location for the Community Weed Pull, which will offer an opportunity for members of the public to get involved in a hands-on environmental activity. All ages may take part, and doing so counts as volunteer hours for high school students.
The attendees will be removing English ivy, which has come to be an invasive species in the park. Training will be provided so everyone will know what to do and how to do it, and snacks will be served. Gloves and other tools for tackling the task at hand will be supplied, and when they head for home, everyone who took part can feel good that they have lent Mother Nature a helping hand. The session will kick-off a series of three, and they will each take place at different green spaces in the city.
A volunteer-driven event like this can really make a big impact. Offering helpers small Promotional Products can be a fun way to thank them for their support.
The first instalment of the Community Weed Pull will be on offer in Delta’s Pebble Hill Park on March 23rd. The other dates are set for April 6th and April 20th, and more details about their timings and locations is available on the City of Delta website.
