The festival offers the chance to sample dumplings featuring a variety of fillings from different vendors from across the Metro Vancouver area and beyond. The inaugural edition included 13 food vendors offering everything from classical Chinese dumplings to Polish pierogies. The event will also include other food vendors such as Beaver Tails and Sharbat Drinks.
The Dumpling Festival was created by the Asian Arts and Culture Society and was born out of a desire to highlight Coquitlam’s cultural diversity in a positive light and benefit local businesses, with its website stating:
“This festival is a celebration of the diverse community we live in and brings together families, friends, neighbours, community organizations and businesses from different cultures to share food, entertainment and laughter.”
The inaugural edition saw over 20,000 visitors over the course of the day and over 30 community vendors, and will also feature live entertainment and activities. Food-based festivals such as this are often an opportunity to sample local vendors of both food and other products, with Business Cards and special promotional items used to make long-lasting connections.
The 2023 BC Dumpling Festival will take place at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam on August 12.
