Coquitlam residents whose resumé can use a little polishing will have a chance to make it shine by participating in an upcoming workshop.
Those who attend the YMCA Employment workshop will discover how to craft both resumes and cover letters that can help them to stand apart from the crowd. The organizers explained that, as these documents are often the first point of contact between an employee and their potential future employer, it is important to ensure they are done correctly.
The group will find out ways that they can catch the eye of hiring managers, the dos and don’ts of preparing powerful covering letters and resumés, and also ways they can be customized so that the candidate really shines. In addition to all of this, one of WorkBC Centre Coquitlam Career Advisors will be stopping by for a short resumé review and clinic. The advisor will take a look at each participant’s resumé and give some feedback, and prize draws have also been planned.
Once the participants in this sort of event have their resumés ready, a local printer that prepares Letterheads and other documents will be able to offer high-quality printing services. This can help to create a resumé that will have a professional look and feel.
The Coquitlam City Centre Library is scheduled to host this event on October 17. There is no fee to join in.
