Coquitlam workshop to celebrate Lunar New Year

A workshop that will celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year is on the cards for Coquitlam, and while attendance is free of charge, advance registration is mandatory to enjoy the celebration.

The function, which is scheduled for the Coquitlam Heritage Museum at Mackin House, will explore a variety of cultural traditions associated with the arrival of a new year. Jessica Yue will serve as the facilitator, and the two-hour-long celebration is open to all ages.

During the festivities, Yue will offer demonstrations of drum, fan, handkerchief and ribbon dances, and everyone will be able to try out some of the hand movements while they enjoy some traditional Chinese New Year’s music. There will be a cooking demo as well, and the dish prepared will either be rice cakes or sesame balls. Everyone will be able to do some taste testing, and it will be an interactive experience.

One of the ways an organizer can make an activity like this even more special to those who take part is by choosing to use custom banner printing services. These can offer the final added touch for a themed celebration.

The Coquitlam Heritage Museum at Mackin House will be celebrating the arrival of the Lunar New Year on January 29th. The festivities are set to kick off at 1:00 pm.
