Coquitlam walk to search for buntings and other birds

Coquitlam is organising a walking event that will allow visitors to see buntings in their natural environment this summer.

Buntings are a family of birds known for their bright plumage, and while they often call the tropics their home, they can also be found in British Columbia during the summer season.

Participants in the Lazuli Bunting Walk will search for buntings and other migratory song birds, and with some luck, they may even spot a “lifer”. There is no cost to participate, and it can be a fun way to learn more about their local feathered friends.

Attendees will gather in front of the community gardens that can be found at the end of Colony Farm Road. This will be a guided activity, and each participant may wish to bring some binoculars and a note book so they can record the species they see. Registration is mandatory to take part in the excursion, and the hike will begin at 9am.
