Several public events have been planned for throughout the year to mark Coquitlam's 125th anniversary, starting this January.
The first event taking place is Activate Coquitlam 125. The Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex will present lots of free activities during the day. It will all start with an opening ceremony about the 125th birthday. This will be followed by fitness demonstrations, live music and cupcakes. Visitors can also enjoy skating, swimming, curling and several other sports, all for free. To celebrate this first day, there will also be free swimming at the City Centre Aquatics Complex.
As stated, this is just the first of many, many events. They will include Dish and Dialogues evenings at various restaurants, a block party challenge for spring and summer, neighborhood nights and a community heritage picnic. Another special event will be "Kaleidoscope: Celebrating 125 Years of Art and Culture."
No matter what the event, organizers will probably be working with Coquitlam brochure printers to create a schedule or a program for everyone who will want to celebrate the birthday of their city.
Activate Coquitlam 125 takes place on January 2 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex. Call 604-927-6037 to learn more about all the events that are planned for the 125th anniversary of Coquitlam.
