Coquitlam run challenges participants to crunch

The Coquitlam Crunch Challenge will be back for its 12th year this summer, inviting local runners to take on the local slopes.

The Challenge consists of various challenges around the eponymous Coquitlam Crunch trail, a 4.4-kilometre trail through a hilly trail on the local park. Participants can take on the route twice for an 8—kilometre run, or enter in the Make It Or Break It competition to see how many runs hey can make within 4 hours. A shorter-format challenge is the Stair Master, which times athletes to see who can get up the Crunch’s 437 stairs the fastest. For more casual runners, there is a recreational category with optional time-chipping.

There will be awards and medals granted to the top 3 finishers per age group and gender in the Stair Master and Make It or Break It competition. The Crunch raises money for the Community Diversity Fund, which provides grants to encourage cultural participation among people of diverse cultural background. Charitable runs such as this are a popular way to raise money for good causes and encourage people to stay active, often using methods such as brochure printing and social media to help promote the event.

The 2023 edition of the Coquitlam Crunch Challenge will take place on the morning of June 10 at the Coquitlam Crunch Trail.
