A Coquitlam facility that provides recreational opportunities to the community is undergoing an upgrade, and if all goes as planned, it will be opening its doors this fall.
The newly revamped Place Maillardville Community Centre will be open to the public on a limited basis in the fall of 2022, and it is expected that it will be up and running at full capacity in 2023. It will boast 22,000 square foot of floor space, and a variety of new amenities will be on offer.
The building will include a large gymnasium for fitness classes and sports, and a multipurpose room and teaching kitchen will also be available. Lounges for youth and seniors, and additional meeting spaces and rooms for dance and exercise, have been constructed, and thanks to a large elevator, underground handicapped parking spaces and a family washroom, the site will be more accessible to those with mobility issues.
The management of the facility have explained that it will now be a venue that can host weddings, parties and other private celebrations. Print shops can craft announcements to send out to area households to keep them abreast of such developments in community infrastructure.
The revamped Place Maillardville Community Centre will be open to the public starting in the fall, with more details to come. Its website can be consulted for more information.
