This November and December will see the Coquitlam Heritage organization hosting a series of events aiming to celebrate the winter holidays and build community during the winter months.
The events will begin in late November on the 24th and 25th, with a drop-in photo-taking event and a holiday bread-making workshop. December will begin with a free Winter Wonders Community Celebration, including crafts, hot chocolate, a visit from Santa, stories, and other family-oriented activities. Families may also enjoy the Holiday PJ Storytime event, with stories and songs celebrating the family, and a crafting event aimed at pre-schoolers.
There will also be a Celebrations of Light event on the afternoon of December 9, with poetry and music celebrating and informing about various winter holiday traditions from around the world, as well as the history of the French community in Maillardville. Bakers can pick up more tips from the Prepare Ahead Holiday Cookie Workshop.
One of the more traditional events will be the “Gather Around the Radio” event, a live listening party featuring a narrated version of A Christmas Carol by Patrick Stewart. Cultural organizations often use tools like brochure printing and visual images to help provide education, as well as community togetherness.
Coquitlam Heritage’s holiday events will run from November 24 to December 22, all taking place at the organization’s headquarters at Mackin House.
