The annual Canada Day celebration in Coquitlam this year will recognize the 148th birthday of the country.
The event will be hosted by the City of Coquitlam, with three stages set up to provide day-long entertainment. Some of the artists that will be taking part are Adam Woodhall, Headwater and Blackthorn.
The celebration is divided up into several ‘villages’. The Cultural Village will have musical and dance performances, as well as activities, while the Green Village will be showcasing sustainability. Meanwhile, the Arts Village will provide hands-on activities for people of all ages and the Community Village will have informational booths from various non-profit and governmental agencies.
Guests will also have the opportunity to sample various ethnic foods, such as Ukrainian and Italian dishes. Also, an Adventure Zone will have a climbing wall, Bubble Ball and hot air balloon rides. The day will come to an end with a fireworks display over Lafarge Lake.
Those attending are encouraged to bring along a lawn chair to enjoy the music and the fireworks.
It is likely that this event will attract a large number of Coquitlam residents, many of whom may have flags that were provided by local Print companies.
