Coquitlam is the location for many rivers and streams, and these are home to salmon and other wildlife. An event filled with activities has been planned within the town to help ensure this wildlife will be around for future generations.
Hyde Creek Watershed Society’s open house will have plenty on offer for anglers, environmentalists and anyone with an interest in fish and marine wildlife. A volunteer-driven day will give the opportunity for attendees to both learn and have fun.
The organization will be offering a behind-the-scenes look into how it is working to make sure salmon will continue to thrive. Guests can tour the hatchery, which will be in full operation. There will be a release of fish into the waters of Hyde Creek with a hope that, one day, they will return to lay eggs of their own.
Along with the release, there will be crafts, exhibits and murals to explore and when it’s time for a snack, attendees can enjoy a hot dog and drink. The proceeds from these sales will be used by the group to fund its activities.
If organizers of this type of event meet with a banner printing company beforehand, they will be sure to have lots of festive decor and other items that can assist in making it run smoothly.
This year, the Hyde Creek Watershed Society will be hosting its open house on April 13th. It will be held at 3636 Coast Meridian Road.
