The show features a variety of traditional circus acts including acrobats, clowns, and jugglers as well as more modern daredevils. The circus is designed for the modern family. Under the big top attendees can also find food, drink, and commemorative gift items. Marketing material uses the tag line “Run Away with the Circus” aiming to evoke childhood imagination:
“Children and adults will be captivated as aerial artistry unfolds, motorcycles madness, acrobats defying the law of gravity inches from their seats. Fitting for all ages.”
The American Crown Circus was founded by the Osorio family of veteran circus performers 25 years ago, and recently expanded its operations to include Canada and Mexico. The circus will be stopping in Coquitlam for almost two dozen shows as part of a summer-long tour of British Columbia which has also included visits to Tsawwassen, Nanaimo and Victoria. Coquitlam will be the last and biggest stop, aiming to draw in families from throughout the Metro Vancouver region. Circuses and fairs often use colourful poster printing and decorations to help draw attention and conjure up childhood nostalgia.
The American Crown Circus will appear at Coquitlam Centre from October 19 to 30.
