Art exhibits to open in Coquitlam

The Place des Arts in Coquitlam will be unveiling a set of new exhibitions this November, including its popular annual miniature exhibition.

This year’s miniature exhibit will use the theme Positively Petite with art pieces under 30 square inches or 60 cubic inches for three-dimensional work. Over 30 different local artists will be represented, including painters, sculptors, and photographers. All artwork will be available for sale, aimed at those looking for unique holiday gifts.

Place des Arts will also be unveiling two new regular exhibits highlighting emerging artists. Psychological symbolism will feature oil painting by Alex Lavrov, featuring surreal images meant to depict the inner workings of the mind. Mitchel Seeyu’s Flowing with the Flow exhibit will feature abstract ink and colour on Xuan paper, meant to evoke the artist’s experience arriving in Vancouver from China.

The gallery will also be opening its annual Holiday Artisan Shop, offering handcrafted houseware, accessories, cards and ornaments by artists. Public galleries often use poster printing or Catalogues to help highlight art items available for those looking for a unique gift or personal piece of decoration.

All four installations will be featured at an opening reception on November 14 at the Place des Arts, with refreshments, musical performances, and an opportunity to meet the artists. These exhibits and the Artisan Shop will all be open until December 18.
