The City of Coquitlam is holding a series of events to celebrate Coquitlam’s 125th birthday.
During the summer, several Neighbourhood Nights have featured family-friendly activities, free refreshments and children’s games. The last two will take place in Maillardville at Mackin Park on September 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Eagle Ridge at Eagle Ridge Field on September 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Residents of all neighborhoods in the city are invited to the Community Heritage Picnic on September 17 at Blue Mountain Park from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM. There will be lots of old-fashioned games like the three-legged race, potato sack race, and tug-of-war. There will also be craft activities, musical entertainment, and food for purchase. Guests can watch demonstrations in candle making, cedar basket weaving and inkle, enjoy a heritage display or pose for a recreated historical picnic photograph at Booth Farm. Several historical characters are also expected to show up.
There is also set to be a tea tent and a farmers’ market featuring the produce of local farmers and growers.
