What's Happening in Chilliwack, BC…

Quilt show to return to Chilliwack

The ‘Our Quilted Treasures’ show is taking place in Chilliwack over two days in October. It is hosted by the Chilliwack Quilters' Guild.

This event is a biennial fundraiser for the guild, and a portion of the funds also go to provide the materials to make the ‘We Care’ and ‘Hospice’ quilts which are then donated to local charitable organizations.

There will be much to see at the show, including a display of quilts handmade by guild members, a quilt raffle, demonstrations, and a merchants’ mall. There will also be a tea room and a white elephant table selling gently used merchandise.

In addition, guild members can take part in a challenge; the full details of which are yet to be announced. The quilt being raffled off was designed and also created by the group’s members. The merchant's mall will no doubt be offering quilts for sale as well as items such as fabric, threads, frames, and other quilting-related products.

The show will be an excellent opportunity for those interested in making their own quilts to learn from experts and to witness the creativity and talent involved in producing works of art which double up as useful items.

It's possible that the organizers of the show will be investing in services from Chilliwack printing companies. This could involve decorative banners, posters for display, and flyers to promote the event in the community.

The show will take place at the Chilliwack Alliance Church from October 18-19. Admission is $5. For more information, contact Joyce Clough at 604-794-7869.
