The public has shown its sense of care and compassion for a Chilliwack restaurant that was facing some tough times.
Family-run Marty’s Grill, which is located on Vedder’s Road, had been trying to sort out itsbanking arrangements after the owner had been hospitalized. It was operating on a ‘cash only’ basis when Cash Mob Chilliwack decided to step in and give people a chance to lend a hand.
A spokesperson for the organization noted that one of the goals for the group is to build the community and promote local business. Marty’s Grill was a good fit for it, as the eatery has been open in the area for many years.
A Go Fund Me account had been set up by one of the establishment’s regulars when he heard about the owner’s sudden health problems and how his financial institution had frozen his accounts. The restaurant decided to seek the public’s help via social media, and set a fundraising goal of $5,000. Flyer printing firms can help to get the word out about this type of fundraising effort and let people know how they can make a difference.
Cash Mob held an event at the restaurant where it offered a burger, fries, and soda for $10, as well as the rest of the regular menu. More than 560 people came out, and a variety of other local business decided to help by donating a range of draw prizes to be awarded to those who lent their support.
