The trio consists of singer/songwriter Lori Paul, multi-instrumentalist Rick Genge and percussionist Clay Thornton. The group will be performing songs from throughout their time together. The concert will also double as an album release party for the group’s latest album Canadiana, with songs written by Paul focusing on women’s issues and Canadian national identity. The band’s notes describe the album as a culmination of their musical experiences:
“We’ve mapped out highways and backroads for exploration of our Canadian landscape, places that reflect the myriad human voices we hear wherever in the world we may travel.”
Ticket purchasers will receive a free digital download of the new album. The performance will be recorded by local media outlet chillTV for use in a forthcoming concert documentary. The Canadiana event is an all-ages show with drinks and food available and an aim for affordable ticket prices. It is the first show of the year in the chillsounds concert series, which promotes local musicians in the Chilliwack area.
In addition to recording their own music, Spiderlodge also runs a music school and their own recording studio. Grassroots musicians like this often use methods like poster printing and social media platforms to help reach local music lovers.
Spiderlodge’s Canadiana concert will take place at the Vineyard Centre in Chilliwack on the evening of April 11.
